I've heard there are special baguette pans...I wonder if those would create a more cylindrical loaf? I've never seen one, but I keep meaning to investigate!
Your brioche looks AMAZING. I get them every Sunday morning at a local bakery here in Alexandria, Virginia, and they are TO DIE for.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21718724.post-87636508797281056392007-10-30T16:41:00.000+01:002007-10-30T16:41:00.000+01:00Zorra - Thanks! Oh my, an invitation to World Bread Day After Hours Party, I'm entering into the bread-bakers' world!

Tanya - Far be it from me to deter you from buying molds, but you know you can start with a loaf pan...

Kai - The Kitchen Aid stand mixer does only one thing: stirring. It can stir with different tools - whisk, paddle, kneading hook - but all it does is go around and around in a big bowl. Why so expensive then? Because it's (hopefully) very long-lasting and sturdy, and can handle stiff bread doughs. Also it's a cute 1950's design. The advantage to owning one for me is a) beginning to make breads (I could knead by hand, but I can give the kids a bath while the machine works for me... almost), and b) it's like having a kitchen helper who mixes while I add ingredients to the bowl. Very useful for recipes like génoise in which the eggs & sugar must be whisked for at least 8 minutes. 8 minutes! I can do so much in the kitchen during that time!

Linda - It's not that time consuming to make brioche, if you have a mixer. But you do need to watch what is happening in the mixer. Still, you can do other things at the same time.Astridhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02396975544230662006noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21718724.post-43132264442713943932007-10-30T15:10:00.000+01:002007-10-30T15:10:00.000+01:00They look so delicious!I agree on the poor man's b...They look so delicious!
I agree on the poor man's brioche ;) I just bought a big brioche mold this morning so I should start making some....when I have time that is...Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21718724.post-81718210058296354262007-10-30T04:58:00.000+01:002007-10-30T04:58:00.000+01:00Very nice. Is it programmable like a breadmaking machine? Does it mix drinks? :-)Kai Carverhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15104699147862191024noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21718724.post-19137929218102055392007-10-29T21:30:00.000+01:002007-10-29T21:30:00.000+01:00Very exciting!
